Last updated: May 22, 2026 · Methodology: All figures are independent editorial estimates aggregated from regulatory filings, audited reports and reputable industry reporting (Forbes, Bloomberg, industry trades). Where credible sources disagree, we present a midpoint and link our reasoning. See our Methodology page for the full method.
Business wealth on this list comes from two routes: founders who own what they built (Sara Blakely’s Spanx, Steve Madden, Dave Ramsey’s wholly owned company) and media-savvy investors who turned a personal brand into deal flow (Tony Robbins, Kevin O’Leary, Grant Cardone, the Shark Tank cast). This is our 2026 ranking of the wealthiest figures whose fortunes were built primarily in business + entrepreneurship.

How we ranked
Each estimate is a 2026 snapshot built bottom-up: career earnings (contracts, royalties, fees, backend participations) plus identifiable assets (real estate, businesses, equity holdings), minus reported liabilities. Where a single Forbes or Bloomberg figure exists, we anchor on it and note material divergences. Where credible sources range widely — and they often do, because deal terms are private — we use a conservative midpoint and label the estimate accordingly. We re-rank annually.
What we did not include
- Tech-founder mega-fortunes beyond our profile scope.
- Entertainers with large business arms (e.g. Rihanna’s Fenty) — ranked on their primary music or acting hub.
