The essentials
The $350 million headline is a current secondary estimate without a published balance sheet. Its own May 2026 article still calls McIlroy a four-time major winner after he had won six, so its update label does not prove every component was refreshed. [1]
The PGA TOUR currently records $116,488,372 in career official money. That is tournament prize money in the TOUR ledger—not lifetime income, cash retained or net worth. [2]
Forbes estimates $77 million of earnings for its 2026 ranking, including $50 million off course over the 12 months ending May 2026. It is a one-year pretax flow, not a wealth valuation. [3]
Career · Salary · Ownership · Business · Personal life
Rory McIlroy’s public money trail contains several solid figures, but they answer different questions. The current $350 million headline is a secondary estimate. PGA TOUR official money measures tournament winnings, Forbes estimates one year of pretax earnings, contract reports describe multi-year headline values, and private-company rounds value whole businesses. None of those records is a personal balance sheet.
The old profile did several useful fact checks, then weakened them by publishing its own $330–350 million range and combining PGA and European Tour figures into a dollar total without a shared currency ledger. It also presented a privately reported equity grant too close to realised wealth. The revision keeps the verified reporting, removes the house estimate and makes every number carry its own scope. 01 / Career
A record U.S. Open began a six-major career
McIlroy’s international breakthrough came at the 2011 U.S. Open. He won by eight shots at 16-under 268, then the championship record for both score and strokes under par. He added the 2012 PGA Championship, the 2014 Open Championship and another PGA Championship in 2014. USGA — Rory McIlroy U.S. Open profile
The long-awaited Masters arrived on April 13, 2025, when he beat Justin Rose in a playoff, earned $4.2 million and became the sixth player to complete the modern career Grand Slam. On April 12, 2026, he defended the title by one stroke over Scottie Scheffler, earned $4.5 million and became the fourth golfer to win consecutive Masters. That was his sixth major and 30th PGA TOUR title. PGA TOUR — 2025 Masters points and payouts · PGA TOUR — 2026 Masters points and payouts
The current official profile lists 30 PGA TOUR victories and $116,488,372 in career official money. Those figures establish an elite playing record; they do not reveal caddie shares, travel, management, tax or how much prize money was retained and invested. 02 / Prize money & annual earnings
Official money and endorsement income belong to separate ledgers
The $116,488,372 PGA TOUR total is the strongest cumulative playing figure available. It is limited to the TOUR’s official-money definition and should not be silently combined with European earnings, appearance fees, Player Impact payments or private sponsorships. Cross-listed tournaments and different currencies create a real double-counting risk. PGA TOUR — Rory McIlroy profile · Net Worth VIP — methodology
McIlroy’s third FedExCup title in August 2022 carried an $18 million bonus. The TOUR said that win pushed his career FedExCup bonus money above $50 million, which is broader than simply adding the three winner cheques. Because the official-money profile and bonus programme are separate measures, the profile reports rather than merges them. PGA TOUR — McIlroy’s third FedExCup
Forbes estimates $77 million of earnings for its 2026 golfer ranking, including $50 million off course during the 12 months ending May 2026. That is a current annual income estimate, not a net-worth figure and not an amount to add on top of every contract headline. Forbes — Rory McIlroy · Net Worth VIP — methodology
03 / Endorsements
The Nike headlines disagree; current compensation remains private
McIlroy extended his Nike relationship in 2017, but the reported price is inconsistent. Reuters said British media estimated the long-term extension at $100 million and noted that the company disclosed no terms. The Irish Times described a 10-year Nike apparel agreement worth $200 million. Presenting either number as audited contract value would hide the conflict. Reuters — McIlroy extends Nike agreement · The Irish Times — Nike and TaylorMade reports
The Irish Times separately reported a 10-year, $100 million TaylorMade equipment deal in May 2017. TaylorMade’s current player page confirms that McIlroy still represents the brand in 2026, but neither page publishes payments, bonuses, termination clauses or amendments. A headline contract value is also spread across years and is not cash received on signing. The Irish Times — Nike and TaylorMade reports · TaylorMade — Rory McIlroy player page
Forbes’ $50 million off-course estimate is more useful for a current period than pretending to know the payout of each sponsor. It still remains an estimate before agent, management, business costs and tax, and cannot establish what the endorsement portfolio added to net worth. 04 / Equity & ventures
Reported equity is not the same as vested, liquid wealth
PGA TOUR Enterprises created player ownership after Strategic Sports Group committed an initial $1.5 billion, with up to $3 billion contemplated. The TOUR did not publicly release individual awards. Golf Digest cited a separate report putting McIlroy’s grant at roughly $50 million, while documenting an eight-year schedule that reaches 50% vesting after four years, 75% after six and full vesting after eight. AP — PGA TOUR Enterprises investment and player equity · Golf Digest — PGA TOUR equity grants
That reported figure is neither a cheque nor a quoted market price. Vesting, continued eligibility, transfer restrictions, future capital, valuation changes and taxes affect any eventual economic value. It belongs in the profile as conditional equity with a reported nominal figure, not as $50 million of current liquid wealth. Golf Digest — PGA TOUR equity grants · Net Worth VIP — methodology
McIlroy also co-founded TMRW Sports with Tiger Woods and Mike McCarley. A June 2024 funding round valued the whole company at about $500 million, while his percentage remained private. The company lists Symphony Ventures investments including Puttery, GolfPass, Golf Genius, Golf+, Troon Golf, Hyperice and Whoop; the list confirms activity, not ownership percentages, carrying values or exits. 05 / Family, LIV & public roles
A reconciled marriage and an $850M offer that never existed
McIlroy married Erica Stoll in 2017, and they have one daughter, Poppy Kennedy McIlroy, born August 31, 2020. He filed for divorce in May 2024, but the couple voluntarily dismissed the case on June 11 after saying they had resolved their differences. The court status supports describing Stoll as his current wife; rumours beyond that record are omitted. BBC Sport — McIlroy and Stoll dismiss divorce case · PGA TOUR — Rory and Erica welcome Poppy
Another durable rumour claimed LIV Golf offered him $850 million plus equity. McIlroy said he had never been offered a number and had never contemplated joining; his agent said there was zero truth to the report. It therefore cannot appear as a declined payday, foregone income or proof of market value. ESPN — McIlroy rejects the $850M LIV report
Governance titles also need dates. McIlroy resigned from the PGA TOUR Policy Board in November 2023. By June 2024 he was serving on a transaction committee for talks involving the Saudi Public Investment Fund, but AP reported that he had no vote. His current public business role is clearer at TMRW Sports, where the company still identifies him as a co-founder alongside his active playing career. Common questions
Questions, answered
What is Rory McIlroy’s net worth in 2026?
Celebrity Net Worth estimates $350 million as of May 15, 2026. The page does not publish a personal balance sheet, and its article still contains an outdated four-major description after McIlroy won a sixth major. The figure should therefore be read as a secondary estimate, not a verified total.
How much has Rory McIlroy earned in PGA TOUR prize money?
The PGA TOUR currently lists $116,488,372 in career official money. That ledger does not equal lifetime income or current wealth and should not be combined casually with European Tour figures, FedExCup bonuses, appearance fees or endorsements.
How many Masters and major championships has Rory McIlroy won?
He won the Masters in 2025 and successfully defended it in 2026. The second green jacket was his sixth major championship and 30th PGA TOUR title.
Did Rory McIlroy reject an $850 million LIV Golf offer?
No verified offer existed. In April 2024 McIlroy said he had never been offered a number by LIV Golf, and his agent said there was zero truth to the report.
Who is Rory McIlroy married to, and does he have children?
He is married to Erica Stoll. A divorce petition filed in May 2024 was voluntarily dismissed the following month after they said they had resolved their differences. They have one daughter, Poppy Kennedy McIlroy, born in 2020.
