Childhood
The comedian was born in Hollywood, California. His Jewish parents were both comedic entertainers – his father Mitzi Shore ran The Comedy Store while his mother Sammy Shore had her own comedy show. Surrounded by so much creativity, it’s no wonder that Pauly took an interest in the entertainment industry and began performing stand-up during high school.
When Pauly’s mother passed away in 2018, he took over the management of the club they both were working at. He had three siblings; Peter, Scott, and Sandi. In 1986, Pauly graduated from Beverly Hills High School after having spent his early years surrounded by comedians. At 17 years old he debuted as a stand-up comedian in Culver City’s Alley Cat Bistro and was soon mentored by Sam Kinison – who eventually hired him to be his opening act on multiple tours across America. During these travels and appearances, Pauly created an alter ego called “The Weasel” which portrayed the character of a chilled-out surfer dude!
