From record baseball contracts to team ownership: A-Rod’s finances, family and a second career in business and television.

The essentials
The estimate · Baseball · Team ownership · Business and media · Family · Evidence
Alex Rodriguez’s financial story has moved from baseball salaries to the ownership of businesses and sports teams. The difficult part is valuing what he still owns, rather than adding together every large number associated with his name.
Below, contract history, company activity and the latest dated ownership reporting sit alongside family information. Our methodology explains why an enterprise valuation cannot be treated as an investor’s personal bank balance.
01 / The estimate
Why the reported fortune changed
Celebrity Net Worth raised its estimate from $350 million to $550 million in August 2026, explaining the change through the implied value of his basketball investment. That is the publisher’s assessment, not a newly disclosed private balance sheet.
An increase in an illiquid stake’s estimated value can raise estimated wealth without producing spendable cash. For a private holding, valuation, ownership percentage, debt and restrictions all matter.
The figure therefore should not be combined with gross historic salary or the full value of an investment fund. Those amounts may describe the origin or scale of a business, while measuring something different from the owner’s present net assets.
02 / Baseball
Seattle first, then Texas and New York
MLB’s season-by-season record starts in Seattle in 1994, continues with Texas in 2001–2003 and ends with New York in 2016. He accumulated 696 home runs and 3,115 hits over 22 seasons. His major-league debut was not with the Yankees.
The company chronology records the $252 million, ten-year Rangers contract in 2000 and the $275 million, ten-year Yankees agreement in 2007. It also places his World Series championship with New York in 2009.
Adding those contract face values would overstate a clean career-pay total: the agreements cover different periods, and signing a replacement contract is not collecting two complete contracts at once. Taxes, representation and spending further separate compensation from wealth.
03 / Team ownership
What changed after the 2025 takeover?
NBA approved the transfer of control in June 2025. That is the historical starting point, rather than evidence that the ownership structure stayed fixed.
Associated Press reported on August 21, 2026 that Marc Lore had agreed to transfer his controlling stake to existing investor Marc Stad at a $4.5 billion valuation, while Rodriguez would remain a co-owner. The account cited a person familiar with the agreement and a joint statement from the three men.
This identifies a later ownership development, but does not supply a current, complete ownership register or Rodriguez’s financing. We do not assign him a precise percentage, multiply an assumed stake by the entire enterprise value, or describe the reported agreement as an independently verified closing.
04 / Business and media
A-Rod Corp, property and a television career
His corporate biography identifies him as chairman and CEO of A-Rod Corp. It describes investments across real estate, sports and consumer businesses. A portfolio company’s value does not automatically belong entirely to the investor.
The company timeline dates Monument Capital Management to 2012 and describes apartment investing, fitness and media, including The Deal. Fundraising figures concern investment vehicles, rather than personal receipts.
These activities can create several kinds of financial exposure: an equity investment, fees for services or a commercial endorsement. Public descriptions establish activity more readily than ownership percentages or pay. The evidence table keeps those unanswered questions beside the relevant business.
05 / Family
Two daughters and dated relationship information
His own company biography names his daughters Natasha and Ella. His personal history records his marriage to Cynthia Scurtis from 2002 to 2008, and the later engagement to Jennifer Lopez, which ended in 2021.
For the most recent dated relationship evidence, see the biography panel. An earlier public relationship is not proof of a current partnership, and time apart does not by itself establish a permanent breakup.
The personal and financial stories also remain separate. A former couple’s combined headlines do not establish that either person owns the other’s assets, nor do they reveal how jointly held property was ultimately divided.
