The current $60M estimate tested against his new CNN deal, reported salary, 60 Minutes exit, Vanderbilt inheritance, books, homes and family.

Current net worth
Not independently established

Anderson Cooper's exact net worth is not independently established. Celebrity Net Worth currently estimates $60 million and claims $18 million in annual salary. A new CNN deal is confirmed, but CNN has not published its compensation; his 2026 exit from 60 Minutes also ended a separate role whose pay was private.

The essentials

01

The live $60 million estimate replaces the article’s unsupported $200 million headline. No reviewed source discloses Cooper’s complete assets, contracts, taxes and liabilities. [1]

02

Cooper signed a new CNN deal in late 2025, but its value and duration were not released. Published $18 million and $20 million salary figures remain outside estimates. [2]

03

He left 60 Minutes at the end of the 2025/26 season after nearly 20 years. The original CNN-CBS arrangement and final statement disclose no personal compensation. [6]

The estimate · CNN deal · 60 Minutes · Evidence · Inheritance & homes · Family & now

Anderson Cooper has four visible income engines: his CNN anchor contract, the former 60 Minutes arrangement, publishing and speaking, and newer podcast and streaming work. Only the existence of the major media deals is public. Their full economics, his taxes, investments, property equity and liabilities are not.

This review removes the old article’s invented annual earnings series, false production-company stake, stale daytime-show description, fictitious philanthropy organization and unsupported investments. It also separates the historic Vanderbilt fortune from the much smaller estate Cooper actually inherited. Net Worth VIP — methodology

01 / The headline number

$60M is the current estimate — and a major revision from the old $200M claim

Celebrity Net Worth currently publishes a $60 million estimate and an $18 million annual salary. The old profile carried $200 million in its structured data, called $12 million his salary in one section and $20 million in another, and treated all of them as facts. That internal conflict alone makes the former number unusable.

The current publisher estimate is more recent, but it is still not a personal balance sheet. Cooper’s securities, retirement accounts, book advances, royalties, property debt, tax obligations and private spending are not disclosed. A salary estimate describes one possible annual gross flow, not the accumulated amount retained.

The structured net-worth field therefore remains blank. The $60 million number is shown as an attributed outside estimate rather than converted into a site-authored fact.

02 / CNN contract

A new CNN deal is real; the salary figure remains reported

TheWrap reported on December 8, 2025 that Cooper had signed a new CNN deal in recent weeks. CNN declined to comment, and the report gave neither a dollar value nor a duration. It confirms employment continuity, not an $18 million contract.

Two separate salary numbers circulate. Celebrity Net Worth currently says $18 million, while TheWrap cited two unnamed industry sources estimating $20 million in 2024. CNN’s own report on Cooper’s 2016 renewal likewise disclosed no terms. None is a signed contract, payroll record or regulatory filing.

The current portfolio is broader than one nightly hour: Anderson Cooper 360°, The Whole Story, All There Is, All There Is Live, New Year’s Eve and CNN Heroes. Whether one headline number covers salary, production, bonuses, digital work or special events is unknown, so the components cannot be added again.

03 / 60 Minutes

The CBS role ended in May 2026 — with its pay still private

CBS announced the original arrangement in May 2006: Cooper could contribute up to five 60 Minutes reports a year, CNN could rebroadcast them once, and he remained a full-time CNN employee. No fee, salary or rights payment was published.

In February 2026, CBS said Cooper would leave after the season and finish stories already in production through May. Cooper cited time with his young children. The nearly 20-year role was economically meaningful, but there is no primary-source total to add to his CNN pay.

This matters for the 2026 picture. Any estimate built on continuing CBS earnings is now stale, while treating the role’s reported historical compensation as current wealth would confuse an ended annual flow with assets retained after tax and spending.

04 / Vanderbilt and property

A famous surname did not deliver the historic Vanderbilt fortune

The 2019 will reportedly left Cooper the bulk of Gloria Vanderbilt’s property, except a Midtown co-op that went to his half-brother Leopold Stokowski. The Los Angeles Times reported that a source close to the family put the estate nearer $1.5 million, rejecting a widely repeated $200 million figure.

That $1.5 million was an estate estimate, not a verified cash deposit after administration, debts and taxes. More importantly, Cornelius Vanderbilt’s nineteenth-century fortune had been divided and dissipated across generations. Multiplying an inflation-adjusted dynasty figure by a family connection says nothing about Cooper’s assets.

Two homes are documented without a current equity calculation. A contemporary report put the 2010 Greenwich Village firehouse purchase at $4.3 million; Architectural Digest documented the later four-building Casa Anderson compound in Trancoso, Brazil without a purchase or build cost. Renovation, financing, ownership entities and current market values remain private.

05 / Books, grief and family

Books and a year-round grief project broaden the business beyond television

Cooper has multiple bestsellers. ASU records Dispatches from the Edge and The Rainbow Comes and Goes as number-one New York Times books; Harper identifies Vanderbilt and Astor, co-written with Katherine Howe, as number-one bestsellers. Those rankings prove demand, while advances, royalty rates, co-author splits and lifetime sales remain private.

CNN expanded All There Is into year-round production in October 2025 and added a weekly live companion. The network calls itself the exclusive producer of CNN audio. That establishes an active format and rights holder, but it does not disclose advertising revenue, production cost or Cooper’s incremental pay.

Cooper is not married and no current romantic partner is publicly confirmed. He and former partner Benjamin Maisani co-parent two sons, Wyatt Morgan and Sebastian Luke Maisani-Cooper. His 2026 decision to leave 60 Minutes was explicitly framed around spending more time with them, while he continues his CNN work.
