Aaron Phypers filed for divorce in July 2025. His petition asserts she earns more than $250,000 a month from television, brand deals and subscription content.
The outlet that obtained the document says explicitly that these figures come from Phypers’ assertions, not from Richards’ own financial declaration. Headlines reading “divorce docs reveal Denise Richards earns $250K” elide that distinction entirely. It is an upper-bound advocacy figure, filed by a spouse seeking support, whose interest is to make it as large as possible. No income declaration of her own has been reported.
The same filing itemises around $105,000 of monthly household spending — $20,000 clothing, $18,000 rent, $15,000 restaurants, $15,000 entertainment and travel. The analytically significant line is the last one: insurance, savings, investments and charity, all at zero.
What the Court Actually Did
Here is the number that tells you what a judge made of the income claim. Phypers sought $105,000 a month. In February 2026 he was awarded $5,000, plus $25,000 toward legal fees and $5,000 for a forensic accountant.
A court persuaded that she grossed $250,000 a month would not have landed on $5,000. By July 2026 he had filed for contempt, alleging roughly $41,500 remained outstanding, with a hearing set for September.
And in June 2026 she moved to seal her television salary and bank statements, citing non-disclosure agreements with production companies. Which is precisely why her real income remains unknown after years of reporting about it.
Two Corrections About Charlie Sheen
The $450,000 in arrears no longer exists. She claimed it in September 2019. But an October 2021 order — quoted directly — set his support obligation and arrearages to zero, retroactive to August 2018. She reportedly filed no opposition and was said to have been away filming. The claim is routinely still reported as outstanding. It is not.
Before that, the sequence ran: a reported $55,000 monthly baseline from 2009, reduced in June 2016 to $20,000 a month plus 9.5 per cent of gross income above $2.1 million after Sheen declared his income had collapsed. He separately established a $1.2 million trust for their daughters.
One caution on that $55,000: the widely cited article about a “$55,000-a-month” payment concerns Sheen’s other former wife and her twin sons, not Richards. The two are constantly conflated.
